Animals and Birds of the Shevaroys

 

In the early days of Montfort and SHY it was common to hear the sounds of wild animals at night as you lay in bed in your dormitory. For those who attended Scout Camps where tents were pitched in the forests of Yercaud, stories abounded of sightings and confrontation with some of these animals.

Today, many of the these wild animals have become extinct in the surrounds of Yercaud. A detailed analysis on the animals and birds of the Shevaroys and the possible reasons for their extinction was prepared by Mohan Rajes who has provided some of the photos shown below.
