John Keating CAMPBELL (born about 1808) married Charlotte ESTUBE (born 1814) at Mauritius on 15 Nov 1831. They had a son

  1. John Henry Campbell (born at Mauritius on 25 August 1832).

Family left Mauritius on the Ship "Ann". Arrived in Hobart Town, Van Dieman's Land in June 1835. Travelled with wife, child and servant. Left Hobart Town with family and servant soon after. Travelled on ship "John Dennison" Arrived in Sydney 16 July 1835. Signed on with Regiment 17 July 1835. Pay slips show a lot of leave periods and alternate duties. Pay slips also record the existence of a servant. In 1837 he had deductions made from his pay for "fees of Commission on appointment". The amount was 6 pounds, 13 shillings and 10 pence. On leave without supplied rations since July 1836. Resigned from Regiment 30 June 1837. When died (John) was Supt of Customs, Diamond Harbour. Buried 7/8/1844, aged 35 years 10 months. Buried Circular Road, Burial Ground at Calcutta at Fort Williamson Bengal. Buried by Rev. H. H. Ross., Asst Chaplain of St James Church.
