Dear Anglo-Indian Family Trees,

I am an Anglo from my maternal Grandfather's side and I would love to know more about my family history and relatives in India. He (my Grandfather) was a McGuire from Calcutta, born in the Kulti region of Asansol on the West Bengal-Jharkhand border. His Father (my Great Grandfather) was descended from Calcutta McGuires via his paternal line and Madras Williams and Philips via his maternal line. My Grandfather's Mother (my Great Grandmother) was from an army family (unlike my Great Grandfather, who hailed from a railway family). Her line is difficult to trace, but she may have had roots in Secunderabad, Madras and/or even Burma. Her surname was "Cation" and she was from the Louth and Reeves lines. I was wondering if you would be able to connect me to possible relatives. There are still people from the Philips and Williams families living in my ancestral home of Vepery (in Chennai) whom I tried to contact, unsuccessfully. Would you also, by any chance, have any information on the communities (Vepery and Calcutta railway communities) that my ancestors were part of ?
