*************************

Hi my name is Sandy Warman-Johnston.  I am searching for two Aunts who it is believed came to Australia in 1947 after independence.  I am told that they came with their father David Hall.  The confusing part is that sometimes they used the name Warman-Johnston, and at other times just JOHNSTON.  As far as I know David Hall left his wife Margaret nee Reynolds after over 25 years of marriage and twelve children, and took the two youngest, these two girls with him, and went to live in Bombay from Calcutta.  I think the two girls names were Irene who was born about 1922 and Rhoda born about 1923.  There is another Aunt Jean, who no one knows what happened to.  She married Walter Marshall and had two children named either Sylvia or Cynthia and Peter.  They did come to England after independence but disappeared and the family think they may have gone to Australia on the assisted passage scheme.  So if anyone can help with information or guidance please contact me by e-mail sandyofwitley@aol.com

??REYNOLDS married ??, children:

  1. Walter Noel REYNOLDS (born 31/12/1908, Madras, died 2/9/1988, Perth, Western Australia)

Next Generation

Walter Noel REYNOLDS (born 31/12/1908, Madras, died 2/9/1988, Perth, Western Australia) married Iris Alice SAVAGE (born 8/8/1912 , Rangoon, Burma, died, 21/5/1993, Perth, Western Australia) on 20/2/1935 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cathedral, Rangoon, Burma.  Walter was a Customs Officer in Rangoon before the outbreak of World War II. During the evacuation of Rangoon, Iris, who was pregnant with Michael and her two children, Brian and Ursula left for India by ship, Walter however had to walk from Rangoon to India, the only things he took with him were his family photographs. It is in India where we believe Walter then joined the Indian Army and worked in the Army Ordnance Corps reaching the rank of Conductor.  Any information on how to obtain Walter's Army Service Record would be greatly appreciated. Walter and his family arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia on 23/8/1946. They had 4 children:

1. Brian Ashley REYNOLDS (born 20/3/1936, Rangoon, died 5/7/2004, my father)
2. Ursula Mary REYNOLDS (born 19/4/1938, Rangoon)
3. Michael Allan REYNOLDS (born 16/9/1942, India)
4. Noel Burton REYNOLDS (born after 1946, Perth, Western Australia)
